WISLora - 915MHz not working on 915 MHz module fw version 2.0.2.2

    I'm new to this forum. I hope you will be able to help me.
    I'm preparing to put my hands on RAK devices; i have LoRa WAN gateway with RAK831, also bare LoRa RAK811 modules, and a few WISLora boards (to demo RAK811).

    I started with WISLora and end-up in the corner, unable to communicate with public gateways, here in Sydney in Australia. Looking closer I noticed that there is no explanation of the configurations related to the channel table, and modulation factors. I tried a few configurations, but nothing is actually happening I'm getting time outs. I didn't fire up the spectrum analyzer yet but i can see that device is transmitting RF (on my oscilloscope).

    I issued Following commands :

    at+mode=0
    at+get_config=dev_eui
    at+set_config=rx2:8,923300000
    at+set_config=app_eui:70B3D57EF0006508&app_key:6F342B8C8412C1AA29B7B5714FA3A1AA
    at+join=otaa

    i'm getting response:
    at+recv=6,0,0
    From the documentation i can see that code 6 represents a time out.

    The first parameter which I 'made up' is the at+set_config=rx2:8,923300000 as I couldn't find any example for my band but only for 800 MHz European bands.

    The RAK documentation specified that the modulation parameter is from 8 - 13 and frequency from 923.3 MHz to 927.5 MHz.

    However I issued the command to show the stored channels in the device:

    at+get_config=ch_list

    And i get following list:

    This is clearly wrong band. I purchased the 915 MHz version and it say on the box correct.
    The firmware version on the module is:

    at+version
    OK2.0.2.2

    I hope someone knows where is the correct documentation and some AU/NZ examples and how to get the AU band going?
    I guess the Join uses default channel, how I can set this up?
    Is the firmware on the module for US version and it needs to be changed?

  • If you are operating on AU915, I believe the default firmware loaded on 915 version is US915. For Australia AU915, you would need to load the RAK811_V2022_AU915.bin firmware.
